Que sont devenues les onze femmes que Nick Danziger avait photographiées en 2001 pour illustrer une étude du Comité internationale de la Croix Rouge (CICR) sur la situation et les besoins particuliers des femmes en période de conflit armé ?

Dix ans après, l'exposition et l'ouvrage Onze femmes face à la guerre raconte à travers elles la décennie écoulée. Onze destins, onze regards d'Afghanistan, de Sierra Leone, de Colombie, de Bosnie-Herzégovine, du Kosovo, d'Israël et de Palestine.

Grâce à la mobilisation des antennes locales du Mouvement Croix-Rouge et d’autres organisations internationales, il a retrouvé la trace de ces femmes et les a re-photographiées dans leur quotidien d’aujourd’hui. Pour certaines, la situation a peu évolué tandis que d’autres se reconstruisent et mènent à présent une vie normale, loin des turpitudes qu’elles ont dû subir.

Guerre et Paix : Femmes dans le XXIème siècle

Il y a dix ans, Nick Danziger exposait dans plusieurs pays les images de onze femmes ou jeunes filles meurtries par la guerre, qu’il avait réalisées à la demande du Comité international de la Croix Rouge.

Dix années plus tard, Nick Danziger est parti à leur recherche. Qu’étaient-elles devenues ?

Grâce à la mobilisation des antennes locales du Mouvement Croix-Rouge et d’autres organisations internationales, il a retrouvé la trace de ces femmes et les a re-photographiées dans leur quotidien d’aujourd’hui. L’exposition « GUERRE ET PAIX, Femmes dans le XXIème siècle » permet de découvrir les photographies de ces onze femmes que Nick Danziger a suivi au cours de ces dix dernières années mais présente également d’autres photographies de ce photographe sur le thème de la femme victime de conflits.

Mannerism and Modernism: The Kasper Collection of Drawings and Photographs

Two of Nick's works are presented amongst the drawings and photographs from the collection assembled by American fashion designer Herbert Kasper - simply known as Kasper.

The Balkans: Missing Lives

Commissioned by the International Committee of the Red Cross and based on the book of the same name Missing Lives shows the work of the ICRC and other organisations have undertaken to trace the 32,278 missing men, women and children during the war in the Balkans between 1991 and 1995. The photographic exhibit specifically documents and commemorates the personal stories of fifteen families whose relatives disappeared during the wars of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

Beyond Forbidden Frontiers
